Week 3 - Passing Detail
Module: Master The Opponent: 7-12 Years Old Classroom: Use The 360TFT Game Model Original Location: https://www.skool.com/coachingacademy/classroom/62d426ee
Session Focus
Passing Detail
Developing precision and variety in passing. This week focuses on the details that make passes effective - weight, timing, angle, and disguise. Players learn to read the game and deliver the right pass at the right moment. Every activity encourages players to think about not just where to pass, but how to pass.
Building technical quality and decision-making in passing situations under pressure.
Structure & Flow of Session
1. Ball Mastery Warm-Up (10 mins)
Passing Rondo with Conditions
High-tempo rondo with specific passing conditions - e.g., must play one-touch, or alternate feet. Focus on passing technique and quick decision-making.
- Rotate defenders regularly
- Add conditions progressively
- Celebrate quality passing technique
Coach Prompts:
- “What part of the foot gives you accuracy?”
- “How do you weight the pass for distance?”
- “Can you disguise where you’re passing?”
2. Contextual Game Scenario (15 mins)
Combination Play
Players work through combination patterns with emphasis on passing detail. Focus on timing runs, weight of pass, and executing under light pressure.
- 2v1 and 3v2 overloads
- Wall passes, third-man runs, overlaps
- Realistic starting positions
Coach Prompts:
- “Was the pass too hard or too soft?”
- “Did you play it to feet or into space?”
- “How did your body shape affect the pass?”
3. Small Sided Game (15 mins)
Passing Gates Game
SSG where teams score bonus points for completing passes through small gates (cones) around the pitch. Encourages accurate, weighted passing.
- Multiple gates distributed across the playing area
- Teams earn points for gate passes AND goals
- Encourages varied passing angles
Coach Prompts:
- “Which gate is open?”
- “Can you draw the defender then find the gate?”
- “What’s the risk vs reward of that pass?”
4. Match-Related Play (15-20 mins)
4v4 Free Play
Open game with no specific constraints. Coach observes passing quality and provides brief, positive feedback.
- Allow natural play to emerge
- Note improvements in passing detail
- Celebrate quality over quantity
