Session Focus
Physical Duels - Advanced
Building on Week 9, this session advances physical duel skills with more competitive scenarios. Players work on repeated duels, recovery between battles, and maintaining technique under physical fatigue.
Progressing physical duel skills with increased intensity and competition.
Structure & Flow of Session
1. Ball Mastery Warm-Up (10 mins)
Dynamic Shielding
Shielding practice while moving - turning, spinning, and changing direction while protecting the ball.
- Movement while shielding
- Progressive pressure
- Recover and go again
Coach Prompts:
- “Can you shield while on the move?”
- “How do you change direction under pressure?”
- “Are you staying strong through contact?”
2. Contextual Game Scenario (15 mins)
Battle Stations
Rotating duel stations - 50/50s, aerial battles, shielding challenges. High intensity with recovery.
- Multiple stations
- Quick rotations
- Track wins/losses for competition
Coach Prompts:
- “Are you recovering between duels?”
- “What’s your technique like when tired?”
- “Are you winning your fair share?”
3. Small Sided Game (15 mins)
King of the Ring
Elimination-style games in small spaces. Physical battles determine who stays in.
- Small area battles
- Last player standing
- Quick restart and rotation
Coach Prompts:
- “What makes you hard to knock off the ball?”
- “How do you win without fouling?”
- “Are you tougher than last time?”
4. Match-Related Play (15-20 mins)
Competitive 4v4
High-intensity game with emphasis on winning individual battles. Compare to Week 9.
- Competitive intensity
- Celebrate physical battles
- Note progression in physicality
