Example Drill: (4+ Players) 1v1 Face2Face Moves
Objective: Players to dribble using both feet against a passive defender.
Set Up:
- Use a square with 4 mini goals in each corner
- Split players into two lines, each player with a ball
- Place 4 yellow cones as gates shown, with a mannequin in the centre of the square
- Players go simultaneously, one from each line
Execution:
- Both players dribble at the same time, moving towards the mannequin
- Players must perform a face to face move past the mannequin, before finishing in the mini goal
- After finishing, players retrieve their ball and join the back of the opposite line they started in
- The next two players start as soon as the shot is taken. Keep the tempo high to maximize reps and repetition
Coaching Points:
- Explosive acceleration after the 1v1 move to create separation
- Disguise and deception when approaching the mannequin, sell the move!
- Controlled dribbling at speed, quick small touches before the move
- Quick finish, shoot as soon as you pass the mannequin, no extra touches
