Kevin Middleton⭐🔥 • Aug 18@Sean McMahon, I’m going to post a series of images from a game pack that I would send to my team on a Wednesday before a game. Some of it is relevant to 3421, some not. However, I’m including the whole thing just for context.Hopefully, you can see and understand it all. Happy to do a group call to go into depth on it if the community wants me to2Reply

We only covered that on game day. However, I have some other set piece resources so will dig them out and post them1Reply

No good playing a 352 if you haven’t got players that can do a job at wingback. You might also make a choice on formation based on what you know about the opposition 👍🏻0Reply

Sean McMahon • Aug 18 (edited)Thank you. I also wonder whether the 433 could just become a 343 too with one fb going high when he needs to. I see changes in formation taking place constantly. The 343 or 3412 is intriguing and defo need the right type of profile to be able to undertake the roles. I guess I would need to try it out but am I that brave?😂1Reply

Jamie Birch🔥 • Aug 18 (edited)@Sean McMahon it’s not uncommon to have different formations and set up for different moments of the game.A 433 for example might become a 3223 in the build up, with the full back inverting next to the DM to make a box midfield.Chelsea use Cucurella in many different ways, but I’ve seen them got from a 4231 to a 3241 with cucurella pushing high and Palmer (or insert other attacking midfielder) tucking into the half space from wide.1Reply

Stephen Kavanagh • Aug 20We use 1-4-3-3 (I can’t leave the keeper out) which for us means a CDM, Box-2-Box and #10 in midfield, although that balance changes depending who is on the pitch so sometimes it is two #10s and sometimes two #8s. We should have the wingers making a 4-5-1 out of possession and one of the full backs pushing up in possession but that’s a work in progress 🤣Good resources @Kevin Middleton thanks.3Reply

Sean McMahon • Aug 20@Stephen Kavanagh yep like this too. Especially when you’re looking at different profiles of players in midfield. Everyone offers something different but you do need a good blend and team chemistry to have a good understanding.1Reply
