Ross Whitehead🔥 • Oct 7When we were at 7s we mostly played with a 2-3-1. Our main issue with it was the discipline of the CM. The couple of kids we had playing in there only wanted to sprint forward to score goals, but we could never get them to work back the way when possession was lost - there was always this massive gap in the midfield. It drove us nuts! We switched to 2-2-2 (more a 2-1-1-2 really) but that meant we sacrificed a bit of width.1Reply

Ross Whitehead🔥 • Oct 7@Steven Hall 2-2-2? We were definitely more competitive as the hole in midfield was plugged. We had one fast attacker that played either right or left and a striker that mostly stayed central. They got a lot of goals. We still conceded goals, but we weren’t wide open like we were before.2Reply

Steven Hall • Oct 7Tbf we have always said our midfileders need to go box to box and striker helps track back and win the ball so works well for us never really feel over ran in midfield but was contemplating trying it as my lad isn’t blessed with pace and almost becomes a bit of a ball watcher in games stood out wide not getting involved2Reply

Ross Whitehead🔥 • Oct 7@Steven Hall We put the striker we used at 2-3-1 in the DM position in the 2-2-2, and it helped him a lot. He got more touches of the ball and was a lot more involved. When he was the striker he was feeding off scraps. The two wingers became the forwards and the CM played as the AM, as that was where he was playing anyway.1Reply
