Ross Whitehead🔥 • Oct 16I wish I had an overview like this before we attempted to play 3-3-2. Our midfielders didn’t get compact enough and just seemed to let the opposition run through them. Maybe we’ll swing back around to it sometime?1Reply

Jamie Birch🔥 • Oct 16@Ross Whitehead Compactness and defensive principles in general are tough to teach younger kids because it’s boring to them so i get it mate. I think this formation is set up well to naturally bring out those behaviours, you have to be as you don’t have the natural width. I imagine you can get caught in transition moments from having the ball to not having it, as it only takes a few to not switch on and track into position and there will be gaps.1Reply

Ross Whitehead🔥 • Oct 16@Jamie Birch Yeah, it was when we would lose the ball as we were attacking, the midfielders all seemed to expect the each other to track back and win the ball, so no-one did it. 🙈Then we’d have an overload on our defence and they were like rabbits in the headlights.1Reply
