Kevin Middleton⭐🔥 • Jun 26 (edited)Love this, Jamie.I used to be live on YouTube every morning during lockdown doing a Ball Mastery Breakfast Club. The kids loved it, and I noticed a difference in the ones who did it daily when we got back on the pitch.I’m a huge fan1Reply

My thought is that most of the session needs to be based on team training, rather than individual ball mastery. Ideally the kids should be spending time every day with the ball at home practicing. What are your thoughts?1Reply

Jamie Birch🔥 • Jul 1Hi David, how are you? Personally i would still dedicate some time to ball mastery, that still leaves you over an hour for everything else. I would suggest adding in some 1v1 or 2v2 games on the back of the ball mastery so you can see the skill in an opposed environment.@Kevin Middleton what are your thoughts?0Reply

Kevin Middleton⭐🔥 • Jul 1@Jamie Birch that’s a difficult one.@David Woodhouse how do you find the players concentration levels after about 60 minutes? At that age, I would be incorporating ball mastery technical squares as part of their warm up. Loads of touches, works their technique, and it will all be football movements as well.Best way to shake the after school hangover and get them tuned into football!1Reply

David Woodhouse • Jul 1@Kevin Middleton that’s why I normally have them playing a match at around the 60 min mark 🤣. I think incorporating it into the warmup seems more viable but combining with homework.2Reply

I think it depends on what time you have with them partly. I’d say warm up with ball mastery at younger age groups and play lots of games that require Everyone With a Ball (TM). You could maybe give ball mastery cards/QR codes out at training and get them to practice at home and then get them to show them off to each other at training. If the games you play a… See more1Reply

Ryan Anderson • Jul 9Does anyone have any good resources that can help guide players in ball mastery for homework? I’m thinking more than a list of skills and # of reps, but like 10-20 min videos that kids can push play on do the skills along with the video. I’ve looked and the videos I’ve found either aren’t the right developmental level (I’m looking for U9/U10) or not long enough to make a meaningful “homework assignment”. I’ve thought about making them, but don’t want to recreate the wheel and don’t really have time.1Reply

Kevin Middleton⭐🔥 • Jul 9@Ryan Anderson hi mate, before I head to my YouTube channel to dig out videos, can I just check if you mean these videos aren’t the right age group?https://www.skool.com/coachingacademy/classroom/7a4e0505?md=5625d82a36704053bae11cc9f76e67861Reply

Ryan Anderson • Jul 11@Kevin Middleton That’s a great resource and some of it is for the right level for sure, but I’m looking for more of a complete workout in a singular video. Maybe 10-15 skills, guided by a coach. “Let’s start with 30 secs of Inside Taps…here’s how you do it…and go!….Now 30 seconds of toe taps…go!” and so on. The coach demonstrates and does that skill in the video so they can copy it (or has a kid doing the demonstration). That kind of idea.1Reply
