Stephen Kavanagh • 26d@Jamie Birch I know, I thought I’d cracked it by walking backwards facing the last cone I put out, but no…..still goes wiggly. It really irritates me as I feel it shows respect for the culture that I get the basics like putting out a cone as good as I can. Maybe I need to sweat the bigger stuff and give myself a break!!1Reply

You don’t need to worry about what’s gone before or what’s going on next, just that one moment in time to help them. What would you focus on to leave them with a satisfying, challenging session? Assume they are all the same standard.4Reply

Kevin Middleton⭐🔥 • 26d@Ross Whitehead Don’t have pauses apart from a water break, but let them bring the water to the side of the pitch so it is quick1 area, lots of exercises so change overs are instant. Minimal coaching points and loads of football.Simple in theory but something will go wrong so I would create a square called the “rest square”….. if anyone needs a rest then they go have one. Training doesn’t stop though. Encourage their teammates to call them back in if they are out there for a long time.Alternat… See more4Reply

Ross Whitehead🔥 • 26d@Kevin Middleton Thanks Kevin, this is something that happens regularly with our team. For example, on Monday, we were in the middle of a drill, and we paused it for a second or two to move a couple of cones, and two of the kids went over to the goals and started taking shots at each other. 🤯3Reply

Sean Ancheta • 25d (edited)@Kevin Middleton I have a striker who tries to resolve situations with his speed. Problem is his touch isn’t the best so he loses the ball up front more than half the time. No one in our league can catch up to him but I want him to value to keep possession by the opponents goal. How can I get him to learn when to use his speed and when to pass back to then make a run or move to a more advantageous position?3Reply

Kevin Middleton⭐🔥 • 25d@Sean Ancheta put zones around the final third of the pitch and coach the whole team what a good decision would be in each zoneA good decision != The right decision, but is one this guides the player if they are unsure.I will post an example of the zones. When you say his touch isn’t good, is this when he’s running through and he takes too many touches to get the ball under control or when he receives he is fighting with the ball, or something else2Reply
