Trevor Charlie • 29dSo many more things coach as its now the whole game. At grassroots for the first season on full sized pitches, emotions, attitude, effort, aggression, play as much part if not more than football itself.2Reply

Jamie Birch🔥 • 29d@Trevor Charlie you’re right so much more to consider. Have you checked out the game model in the classroom? That has a section for older groups and dives into the principles you need to start covering in 11 a side and starts layering them in training 👍🏻1Reply

Ross Whitehead🔥 • 29dSo far I’ve only coached at 7s and 9s. 7s was harder because I had no experience, and the kids were younger and more prone to getting distracted. This caused me to not be as chilled out as I should have been. Kids got shouted at and parents got annoyed. I try not to raise my voice unless I absolutely have to now.I think coaching 11s is going to be very challenging, but I’ve a couple of years before that happens.2Reply

Jess Knox • 29dJeez, I find them all hard. Especially when I change from year to year. I’ve done 5v5 to 11v11 and I can see the value in staying in the same age group as well as going up with a group of players. I guess I find it all hard bc as soon as you think you’ve got a hold on things it changes!! Those darn athletes.2Reply

Jess Knox • 29d@Jamie Birch I do love the foundation phase. And teenagers are very confusing. Lol. I mean, what the hell is “6-7”! (The FA considers foundational up to what 13? USS finishes it at u12)2Reply
