Ross Whitehead🔥 • Oct 7That’s like being asked to pick you favourite child! They are all very important, but I went for resilience - the ability to bounce back from set backs is huge and that can lead to a “never say die” attitude where they all work hard together as a team.3Reply

Jamie Birch🔥 • Oct 7@Ross Whitehead agree very important and quite rare at the younger age groups! I knew this one was going to be a tough one, like I say above I think they are all quite closely related, is a player has one trait they’re not too far from the others1Reply

Jamie Birch🔥 • Oct 8@Sean Ancheta playing devils advocate, have you ever seen a player work hard until you go 2-3 goals down and then start falling out with everyone?0Reply

Sean Ancheta • Oct 8@Jamie Birch definitely. Those players that have built up resilience can help their teammates get back in the game. What the hard workers have lost is belief. The resilient ones are hanging on to the belief that if we continue work hard we go swing the result around.2Reply

I can live with any result if I know I/my players tried their best.Resilience is important but to me only implies working hard when things are tough or you’re losing. I’d rather them work hard all the time.My non negotiables with my teams are;Work your hardest and give me your best you have that day. If it’s a 5/10 give me your 5/5Have a good attitudeBe focused and intentional in your practice to create good habits3Reply

Resilience is great don’t get me wrong, but it’s a clear second to me .3Reply

Kevin Middleton⭐🔥 • Oct 10@Chris Unruh When you have kids for 2-4 hours per week for football, it is really difficult to change their values or attitude. It’s like being a teacher…. you are expected to fix everything when it really should be instilled in people at home.If you don’t mind me asking, do you think working as hard as you could, having zero regrets, and only seeing positives from the situation came from football or outside of football?1Reply

Chris Unruh • Oct 10@Kevin Middleton it’s extremely difficult to do in a week. But who said this was supposed to be easy?I have focused a great lot on our team culture as a part of our “development “ level of soccer for these 11 Year olds. My goal is to shapea team, and Individuals to be impactful 2-4 hours a week for 5-7 years so when they’re 15-20. We can accomplish a lot that way. And I’ve started even younger for my other two.Quite frankly if someone wants to complain about me as a Coach because “he always want… See more1Reply
