Others have prioritised other commitments over football at the weekend (their choice, but it makes it hard to choose a teams sometimes. We have a few kids that love a chat and are easily distracted, so keeping them focused can be difficult at times and we’ve had lots of chats with them about it.Confidence is an issue for… See more2Reply

Jamie Birch🔥 • Sep 28@Steven Hall hard one to “train” in, it’s more of a culture piece and the more you embed it as one of your principles or non-negotiables the more it will land 👍🏻1Reply

Jamie Birch🔥 • Sep 28@Steven Hall here’s a link to a video I did on principles of play, my personal ones might be slightly different or condensed but this was to give you an idea. It has to be personal to you.https://www.skool.com/coachingacademy/classroom/d7d1983c?md=b0b42c2eb49349cf9e4e38cab3f63f1cNon negotiables.
- 100% effort. You don’t have to be a good player to do that.
- Mistakes don’t matter. Reactions do.
- Respect the officials, always.

Steven Hall • Sep 28They have been fairly good at it tbf but one of the main issues we have is a drop off when we change players and also I’ve got the dreaded coaches son attitude creeping in1Reply

Sean Ancheta • Oct 12For me its keeping them focused. Most of the sports here in the USA have breaks, whether it be a timeout, of a break in between plays. Some kids on the team are not used to having to be focused for as long as it requires. The defenders realize quickly they can’t just shut off or get distracted when the ball is on the opponents side because it can come back our way at any point with a simple clearance.2Reply

Jamie Birch🔥 • Oct 12@Sean Ancheta yep, there’s some graphics that show “on the ball”, “around the ball” and “away from the ball” zones and it’s a great way to land a message that you have different responsibilities at different times but can never switch off1Reply
