Chris Unruh • Aug 7Nice video. Is there a progression you have where it goes beyond let’s call it aimless possession? Like connect 10 passes and you can exit the grid through two seperate gates to earn points?I like the movement and scanning aspect I just prefer there to be an aim of the drill that’s more related to a game specific aspect/goal especially if we’re playing 30x30 grid.Personally when possible I’d also setup with neutrals that are defenders on either side of the goalie and a central mid across. Then f… See more2Reply

Jamie Birch🔥 • Aug 7@Chris Unruh good point i missed that out completely, i was concious of how long the video was. You could have a number of passess = a goal for sure, you could also put 2-4 mini goals in the corners and keep the defending team in for a set time and if they win the ball back they can score in the mini goal. 30x30 wasn’t the rule, adjust that to the ability of the players. If 20x20 challenges them more, absolutley do that.2Reply

Sean McMahon • Aug 14Really nice still tbf. You can always adapt to add in your own progresssions too such as +1 or +2 in the middle. Could also have mini goals on corners or even a break out into one large main goal with tracking back defenders.2Reply

Jamie Birch🔥 • Aug 14@Sean McMahon Yep absolutley Sean - love all those progressions. Can you tell me more about the last option where you break out into a larger goal? I really like the idea of a transitionary game into another.1Reply

Sean McMahon • Aug 14Yes, it was just a thought with your game related principles. I would position the box idea on the edge of the goal area (final 1/3) and then on X number of passes you would break out to attack forwards towards bigger goal with a set no.of the bounce players. Eg once hit set no.of passes your team along with the left and right magic men attack creating a 6v4 into main goal. Those magic men would act as wide attackers or fbs. Hope that makes sense. Would be like many of those ‘break out rondo’ ideas/concepts4Reply

Sean McMahon • Aug 14@Jamie Birch thank you. A lot of this is trial and error but transitions are so important as we need to see the behaviours of our players when we gain and lose possession of the ball. How quick do we all transition? Can’t be having 4 transitioning quicker than the rest, we need the whole team doing it as a unit as these Milli seconds are crucial in catching the opposition off guard1Reply
