Jamie Birch🔥 • Sep 20Simple way to deal with it is to drop into a deeper low block and deny the space behind. But the whole team has to be joined up so there isn’t space inbetween the lines to play.Simple rule to follow could be if the opposition player on the ball is being pressed and has their head down, you can push in a higher line. If they have time and can get their head up to see the pass you team to drop as a unit to deny the space in behind 👍🏻3Reply

Jamie Birch🔥 • Sep 20@Christian Garcia does anyone offer cover behind the CB when they’re going to win the ball?So if there is pressure on the ball high, your team can press up. If the opposition do clip a ball long, the player challenging for the ball needs cover in behind, either CB partner or full back to tuck round. To really deny space in behind you could set some really clear pressing rules in games where you feel like this will happen. An example could be we don’t press the opponent until the ball in in our ha… See more1Reply

Christian Garcia • Sep 20One goes up and the others do cover a bit and get compact but no often I need to work on that with them. I could try that tomorrow the team tomorrow doesn’t play long balls much they like to play on the ground more and build up similar to me so could be my midfield fighting it out haha thanks for listening and giving feedback Jaime 🙌🏻1Reply

- Let the opposition play the ball long, the aim of the defender who is defending the striker/target player isn’t to win the ball, it’s to make sure the target player can’t win it cleanly. Disrupt his jump. Set the team up so they win the 2nd ball by having players behind and around the target player. If you can’t disrupt the jump, he’ll flick it on and you have numbers to sweep. If you can disrupt the jump then you’ll have players… See more

They played better with the long ball but this time they suffered because they thought they could play offside trap all the time and they were punished but hey back to the drawing board tomorrow1Reply

- pressure on the ball from the front
- If the long ball comes, the defender is disrupting the receiver (reward them with praise for this, success is the attacker not receiving clean)
- Cover in behind as back up
