Kevin Middleton⭐🔥 • Oct 16Sean, I just wrote this elsewhere on the site:”We need to show up extending 5 fingers to lift each other up, and never with 1 finger pointing in blame or judgement.”and it is true!In saying this, I have played with “moaners” in the past and they do tend to raise the standard. However, most of the time, as a player, you know you have made a mistake and don’t need someone to tell you.So, sometimes it is good and sometimes it is an energy drainer. Is this player your captain?3Reply

Sean Ancheta • Oct 16Thank you @Kevin Middleton for the response. No he is not the captain. Interestingly enough this players parents wanted to have a talk with me as to why their son wasn’t the captain. Even though he isn’t captain I want to help him develop in this area. He will have a bigger influence on future teams if he can reframe his communication.I have kids who have never played football on the squad so their confidence tanks when they get yelled at by this player.3Reply

Jamie Birch🔥 • Oct 16Maybe hold the captaincy as a carrot? Be really clear on the behaviours a captain in your side would have to show, and explain how they should help others and pull the team through in tough moments.4Reply

Stephen Kavanagh • Oct 17We introduced “Takes No Talent” over the summer that is doing the things that aren’t about skill in the game well. We gave a list of things that we think are important for our group at this point in time (the Leadership Group had input and approved it). One of them is: “Treating others how you would like them to treat you. Bring people up when they are down, encourage if someone makes a mistake, put your arm around someone who is struggling.”We don’t have much of an issue with it, but there are … See more4Reply

Jamie Birch🔥 • Oct 17@Stephen Kavanagh great advice Stephen, another example of how much of a tight ship you run at your club! I love the concept of “takes no talent” hardwork comes into that as well.1Reply
