Ross Whitehead🔥 • 4d@Jamie Birch We know that we are a feeder team for the A team. It has been a couple of years since they’ve shown any interest in our players, so it came as a bit of a surprise. I suppose an unbeaten run at the start of the season will make them sit up and take notice.The relationship between the two teams isn’t great. Brian Willis • 4dI lost two of my players to the higher level team this season. As a coach it is bittersweet, happy to see the ones that deserve it move up but it also sucks those your better players. It was a little disruptive to my squad, but I used it as an opportunity to emphasize the aspects of the player’s character that caused them to get moved up instead of their playing ability.2Reply

Brian Willis • 4d@Ross Whitehead Kudos to them if they can coach at each development level. Not everyone can (🙋). I’m good once they hit 7s. I have mixed opinions on kids staying with the same coaches. There’s positives and negatives.2Reply

Is this the best thing for the players involved.The second question is…… Will this leave the other players on the team at a disadvantage.For me, personally, within the same club, there should be two assessment periods during the season where kids can move up or down. If that was the case, I’d have no problem moving them up.No matter what happens, we’ll cope. We always do. I’m just a bit concerned about our confidence and morale levels, which up until last week were sky high.1Reply

Ross Whitehead🔥 • 3dUpdate on this from today:Of the 3 kids that trained with the A team through the week, 1 didn’t play today (unavailable) and 2 did.The two that did play:1 ran about like a headless chicken and didn’t play well. Brian Willis • 3d@Ross Whitehead Thanks for the update. Just make sure take all credit for their POTM performance. One of mine got some matches with our “elite” team this season, while they weren’t POTM, they at least looked like they fit in. Eventually got moved up to our 2nd team.2Reply
