Kevin Middleton⭐🔥 • Aug 16Brilliant analysis 👏👏 Really simple and really clear.I would add one thing:In build-up, you would always try to go +1 player. Because the team in blue committed three forward, the team in red needed a +1, so they had 4. This will probably be a principle they have worked on in training. As you say in the video, that’s to dominate the initial phase of build-up and to ensure that they can cleanly escape the press.Great analysis, though, Jamie. I love that.1Reply

Jamie Birch🔥 • Aug 16@Kevin Middleton thanks mate. Watching the video I think the blue team could have added another player to the press from the initial set up but the GK starting centrally probably helped1Reply

Kevin Middleton⭐🔥 • Aug 16@Jamie Birch You hit the nail on the head as to why they don’t do that, They would be player for player at the top end of the park. And in that situation, I would expect the team in red to take what the team in blue are giving them and go longer.1Reply

Ross Whitehead🔥 • Aug 16So far, we have avoided playing out from the back, as most of our defenders aren’t confident enough with the ball at their feet. This has been identified as a weakness so we’re going to work with them to help them with this. I’d love our team to play it out from the back, but we have to learn to walk before we can run.2Reply

Jamie Birch🔥 • Aug 16@Ross Whitehead you’re absolutely right Ross, the players need to have the confidence (and ability) to do it. First touch is so important as normally there’s a heavy press!1Reply
