Ross Whitehead🔥 • Oct 21To be honest, this isn’t something that we’ve really considered for our U11s.I would say that we have tried to instil a “Never give up” attitude. We have (and have had) a number of kids who’s head’s drop when we would concede. This would inevitably lead to more goals being conceded and we’d end up being beaten heavily. But we have worked with them, and now we keep fighting until the final whistle (we don’t always get the result we want, but we want them to believe in themselves).2Reply

Sean Ancheta • Oct 21 (edited)A quote I like is “‘Winners never quit and quitters never win.” I like that you have been able to see progress. Do you let the players know of their progress in that regard?I had a kid who hadn’t played much soccer before and in games he made many mistakes and would always drop his head. Ross Whitehead🔥 • Oct 21@Sean Ancheta I’m not sure if we have or not, but it will definitely be mentioned before the match this weekend. It’s great when you can see individual progress. I would tell the kids not to dwell on mistakes, because they’re in the past and you can’t do anything about them. They’re not mistakes, they’re opportunities for improvement!2Reply

Brian Willis • Oct 21I went into this season with grandiose ideas about what my team culture would be. It only took a few training sessions before it boiled down to the idea that if we want to give 200% on match day we have to approach training with the same mentality and level of effort, and that I am just as accountable as they are.4Reply
