Ross Whitehead🔥 • Oct 25We played last night under the floodlights again - scheduled as a 2020 KO, but we didn’t actually KO until 2035. We got down to the venue for 1940 and started to warm-up. It didn’t go as well as we had hoped - we thought the late KO would be an issue and the warm-up seemed to confirm this. Then, when we got on the pitch we watched the other team passing and shooting and we were worried. This was 2nd v 3rd (they were ahead on GD).The match started and we were on the front foot from the start - we… See more4Reply

Jamie Birch🔥 • Oct 25@Ross Whitehead amazing mate, what a win! Really happy for you. Great picture as well! Why was you worried about the late kick off and what worried you about watching opposition warm up?Sometimes players surprise you in big games, they rise to the occasion!1Reply

Ross Whitehead🔥 • Oct 25@Jamie Birch Last season we had a couple of Friday night games and they were a disaster - kids looked sleepy and not interested. Last week’s Friday night game was an earlier KO - this game was going to be finished past bedtime (although it is now the school holidays, so no biggie). The opposition were pinging the ball about and some of their shooting was unbelievable! Our warm-up was a bit messy, and it was on a cramped bit of mucky grass, so not ideal.Honestly, this is the best we’ve ever seen our wee team play - against good opposition too. The whole group were delighted with how it went!1Reply

I have 4 who never played before and probably half my team doesn’t want to be there. Just playing because Mom and Dad are making them. We had a good training session this week, but I just want them to get out there and have fun today.5Reply

Nicolas Andrews-Gauvain • Oct 25No game for me this week (either as a coach of my son or dad of my daughter) but two of the next three teams we are playing in the league were playing each other so me and the boy went along to watch/scout…. Interesting to see different formations/and skill sets of the players… I’m looking forward to facing one of the teams more than the other now!! 🤣3Reply

Jamie Birch🔥 • Oct 25@Nicolas Andrews-Gauvain what did you take from what you saw of them and how are you going to change your approach based on what you’ve seen?1Reply

Ross Whitehead🔥 • Oct 25@Nicolas Andrews-Gauvain it’s always good to do a wee scouting mission to see what you’re going to face. Any standout players or players you think you can exploit weaknesses?2Reply

Mario Demmelbauer • Oct 25Yesterday’s 1-3 defeat was another opportunity for us coaches to identify areas where we can improve with the boys. Yesterday, our lack of experience (average age of the starting lineup was 18.64) was evident, which is difficult in the Austrian third division. Today, however, our U15, U16, and U18 teams played very well against RB Salzburg, but unfortunately lost all three games by a single goal. Have a great weekend! 💪4Reply

Jamie Birch🔥 • Oct 25@Mario Demmelbauer thanks for sharing Mario. Amazing that those young players get the experience to play at that level and there’s a clear pathway for them 👍🏻1Reply

Brian Willis • Oct 25My girls lost 5-3, but this is the best they played all season so far. Normally this team puts 9 or 10 against us and we’re lucky to get a goal or two. I’ve struggled with bouncing between these girls and my more advanced boys team the same age. I’ve learned a lot of hard lessons, but we have one match left before we take a break till the spring. I’ll come back better prepared and with a better plan in the spring.6Reply

Sean Ancheta • Oct 26I have a practice session this Sunday. Probably will consist of a lot of finishing and final third attack. We have three games this week so todays practice is all we will get for the week. Last week we won one game and lost one game. I’ve seen progress in our principles in every game so I’m happy with where the team is headed.4Reply

Jamie Birch🔥 • Oct 26@Sean Ancheta great to see your principles landing mate. It’s a really nice point when you see the players talking about them to each or pulling each other when they see where they should be applied1Reply
