We had one parent message in to say if it was raining they wouldn’t come which caused a bit of a stir, but fair play to them, they turned up.The game itself was quite scrappy in the 1st half. We couldn’t really get our passing going, and the forwards weren’t really linking up that well. Trevor Charlie • Sep 27League season kicked off this morning away on a rock hard bobbly pitch where only patches of grass were visible.No regular GK (away with family) had a defender stand in. 1-0 down in the first minute. Serious injury to our Captain in midfield inside 3 minutes. Forced into an unfamiliar set up 4-4-2 which the lads struggled to get to grips with.5-0 at Half time. Although I am concerned with one or two who simply stopped trying and showed no interest or resilience hardly at all. We were up against it x2 once our Captain who is also my son was injured. He’s a big part of the team and midfield. Long trip to A&E but thankfully it not too serious but he will be out for 2 weeks 😩It obvious the odds were stacked against us and we are a new team, but we’ve more than matched our opposit… See more1Reply

Stephen Kavanagh • Sep 28@Jamie Birch Yes and a big improvement we lost 3-2 but were 2-1 and missed a penalty. Very physical game, we aren’t the biggest, physicality isn’t our game, but they battled and cannot fault anyone for effort. We had them worried which hasn’t been the case previously. Importantly we’ve largely fixed the back four being too far apart and they are defending in 3 lanes all the time now.
