Ross Whitehead🔥 • Oct 27Thanks for sharing @Kevin MiddletonI’ve just had a quick look at that, but the first thing that jumps out at me is that they have 2 hours on a Tuesday and 1.5 on a Thursday during pre-season. Then when the season starts they get another 1.5 hours on a Friday. It must be an absolute dream to get so much time to train the kids! We get an hour on Monday and an hour on Wednesday. Those extra hours (and therefore extra touches) will build up and make a huge difference to the kids over a season (and season after season).4Reply

Kevin Middleton⭐🔥 • Oct 27One thing that leaps out at me is that nothing is prescribed apart from the topic/theme.That’s my experience of academy football as well. No sessions are defined, just a core topic.I guess that if you have coaches who are good, you don’t need to spoon feed them. But when I was involved, it does leave things open to misinterpretation…. And I’ll say that every coach isn’t of the level of Andy (in my opinion!)Having gone through the process of building the 16 weeks of sessions for the Game Model … See more2Reply

Jamie Birch🔥 • Oct 27That’s really interesting! Would be great to see a couple of his practice designs that fit the core topic. Great to see planning like this though, a real eye opener1Reply

Brian Willis • Oct 27Having things planned out that far ahead is a dream. Luckily @Kevin Middleton has really helped us in that regard. Having just the topics laid out like that and not specific sessions gives you a lot of room to make adjustments to training over the course of the season while still matching with the overall theme (not that we don’t change things on the fly sometimes anyway).3Reply

Kevin Middleton⭐🔥 • Oct 27@Brian Willis thanks Brian, the ultimate goal for me is that coaches see the high level principles and the concepts behind how to teach, and start to design their own session plans to achieve the same outcomeUntil coaches are confident enough….. The game model is there to help 👏3Reply
