Ross Whitehead🔥 • Sep 26The Coaching technique is something I’ve been using quite a lot. I’ve also taken a lot of interest in the ball mastery. I suppose that’s where my group are currently at in their development.2Reply

Jamie Birch🔥 • Sep 26@Ross Whitehead fantastic mate. Have you had a look at the “how to analyse a match” course yet?Did you say you haven’t tried the game model yet because you need to get the other coaches on board?1Reply

Ross Whitehead🔥 • Sep 26@Jamie Birch I haven’t had a look at the “How to Analyse a Match” course yet - so far I haven’t had the time , but it is on my to-do list!Yeah, I’ve tried to push the game model, but the other coaches don’t seem interested. It’s frustrating, but I’m out-voted 2-1! So I have concentrated on ball skills and technique.1Reply

Jamie Birch🔥 • Sep 26@Stephen Kavanagh Great! Have you completed a full 16 weeks of the game model for your age group? If so what improvements did you see over that time? Not just for the players but for you as a coach as well.0Reply

Stephen Kavanagh • Sep 26No, I’ve been picking bits out and in particular the overall system approach to interleaving learning and so on - I did read Doug Lemov’s books but a while ago and it is good to see how to apply some of that thinking. I’ve borrowed practices and thinking but not followed through a full programme. Partly this is out of necessity as we are only outdoors for Sept and Oct and I needed specific things in that time. Would definitely use it more fully if I had the outdoor time. I’ll need to adapt indoo… See more1Reply

Ross Whitehead🔥 • Sep 26@Jamie Birch One thing I’ve spoken to Kevin about with the Master the Ball Game Model, is that with our mixed ability group, some kids need to be taught from the more basic (younger) Model, and some kids need the more advanced (older) model. How would we go about running a session like that? We have 1/4 of an 11s pitch and about 16 players (on a good day), half of which would need the basic exercises.0Reply
